We are so pleased to announce that we now offer professional Austin dog grooming! We combine skilled stylists with the knowledge of dog trainers and a massage therapist to give your dog the best experience possible on the grooming table.

Have a puppy? Let our Austin dog groomer teach your puppy how to handle grooming with ease and comfort. Your puppy is never too early to start their training on the grooming table! Bring them in for a spa bath and we'll make sure they hear the clippers, enjoy food and fun on the grooming table, and begin desensetization.

Our Austin dog groomer will work with you to create the perfect spa experience and the perfect style just for your special dog! We have two grooming options available for your dog.

For dogs that are not current daycare dogs, we offer our drop off grooming service with drop off by appointment. Your dog will enjoy a cozy pen , soft blankets and a stuffed kong before and after their cut and style. You’ll pick up your dog, clean and spiffy at the time specified by our groomer when she discusses your dog’s grooming needs.

For our current dog daycare clients you can choose to add a half day of daycare to your dog’s grooming day for $10. With this option, your dog can spend the morning playing in the daycare with their best doggie pals. At about 12 pm, we will begin your dog’s groom, giving them just the right cut and style. After their grooming, they will be tucked into a cozy pen with a soft blanket and a stuffed kong to await their pickup. You can pick your dog up from grooming between 4 and 6 pm (or at the time specified by our groomer when she discusses your dog’s grooming needs)!
Not one of our current daycare clients? Call us at 343-8100 to talk about dog grooming or to determine if your dog can be set up as a daycare client and begin enjoying dog play and socialization every week with the caring staff at Buddy’s Chance.

We do have a few policies at Buddy’s Chance regarding dog grooming:

First, we want your dog to have a good experience in the long term for grooming, so we don’t take short cuts to get the job done! If your dog is overly anxious and distressed or if your dog becomes aggressive, we will stop grooming and contact you right away. Together, we will come up with a plan to help your dog get the grooming they need while training them to be more calm and safe on the grooming table. This may mean that we need to do shorter sessions every week or every other week teaching your dog to be comfortable with grooming. We may also show you some exercises you can do at home to help your dog become more comfortable with the process.

Second, we do not believe in quicking dogs’ nails intentionally (intentionally cutting a dog’s nails below the quick). We can gradually trim your dog’s nails a bit at a time each week, causing the quicks to safely and comfortably shorten, allowing us to cut your dog’s nails shorter over time.

Pricing for dog grooming:

Exit bath for boarding dogs (basic shampoo and towel dry) - $10

Spa Bath (basic brush out with triple shampoo and blow dry, clipping of nails, and cleaning of ears --  additional charges may apply for dematting or extra assistance from second person with grooming if dog is stressed or upset) - $35-55

Full Groom (spa bath plus hand blow dry and style cut to your desire, and anal glands): prices for this will vary based on breed, coat type, and size. Please see the chart below for an idea of your dog’s price. Once our groomer sees your dog, they can give you a specific price. Our groomer will also be able to help you decide when your dog needs a full groom and how often your dog needs a “Tweener Groom” for maintenance.

Tweener Groom (spa bath plus a little clipping and snipping to trim your dog up in between full grooms): Pricing will vary for this service. Please see the chart below for price estimates – Tweener grooms will be approximately $15-20 less than a full groom. Our groomer can give you a specific price after seeing your dog.

Just the nails: $7-10

Just the glands: $7-10

If your dog has excessive matting that needs extra care and attention, there will be an additional charge of $15 per half hour of dematting. We will not dematt a dog if the process would cause excessive pain or discomfort to the dog (where the matting is down to the skin or covers an excessive amount of the dog’s body) or if the dog is in poor health or is elderly. In these cases, the only humane and safe option is to clip your dog to a short coat and then we will work with you to put your dog on a maintenance grooming schedule that will help to grow the coat out again without matting. Your dog’s comfort and safety is our top priority!
